I will cut to the chase at the start here: I feel much better (mentally) than I did at the start of the year. The very few positives of these sites (seeing “hot takes” on the freshest of the fresh news) is outweighed by the avoidance of the negatives of these sites (see my other post).
I can feel a sense of my attention span returning.
Another thing that I have started recently is keeping my laptop out of my room. I have an iPad, and that is enough. Yes, it has slimmed down functionality but that is the point. My room feels as if the air moves more freely about it when I have less electronics in there…but I will still keep a video game handheld because that is nice in bed sometimes - but video games are not “short-form” media. Or at least the ones I play are not, generally.
I suppose this post will not be very long because there is not much to say. My brain just feels better, and I do not have a constant pit of anxiety digging at me as I constantly “doom scroll”. Oh, and being physically active has helped me a bunch too.
Life really does feel like it only starts in your 30s.
